On February 10, 2026, employees of culture and education of the Zhitikarinsky district held a commemorative event "Afghanistan: our memory and pain," timed to coincide with the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. On this day, for the residents of the village of Milyutinka, the museum staff prepared the exhibition "Time Chose Them," which became a living reminder of courage, military duty and the difficult fate of internationalist soldiers.

Afghan veterans - fellow villagers were invited to the opening of the exhibition, led by T. Umralinov, a representative of the NGO "Union of Veterans of Afghanistan and Local Wars of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhitikarinsky District." He presented the exhibits of the exhibition and spoke about their historical and human significance. Each relic became a symbol of memory, pain, loss and fortitude of those who went through the trials of war.

A special impression on those present was made by the demonstration performance of the military-patriotic circle of the Zhitikarinsky Polytechnic College "Zhas sarbaz," which became a vivid expression of generational continuity, respect for the feat of veterans and patriotic education of youth.

The event was an expression of sincere gratitude and deep respect for the veterans of Afghanistan, as well as an important reminder to the younger generation about the need to carefully preserve historical memory.
