On August 29, the Open Air Museum event was held on the central square "Tauelsizdik alagy" in an interactive "living history" format. The site was divided into thematic zones, which clearly showed all the stages of traditional woolen production. Visitors could not only observe the process, but also, under the guidance of masters, personally participate in each stage.
How it was arranged:
"Shearing" zone: demonstration of spring-autumn sheep shearing. The organizers showed the technique of careful work using traditional scissors. The audience was also explained how to properly select and sort the fleece according to the quality and length of the fiber.
Zone "Preparation for spinning": fluttering and scratching (carding) dry wool. With the help of hand combs and combs, guests turned hard lumps into airy woolen layers - a roving.
Zone "Spinning and dyeing": demonstration of craft in dynamics - from working on antique self-harnesses and spindles to using modern equipment.
"Making Masterpieces" zone: weaving and knitting. Here, craftsmen showed the intricacies of working on a loom, and also shared the secrets of manual crochet and needles.
The format of the "open-air museum" has proven its effectiveness: live contact with traditional crafts evokes a much greater response from the audience than classic closed exhibitions.
